Participation
Participation is open to young people studying for a qualification in vocational education in Painting who have been born in 1991 or after. The vocational basic degree training refers to an education that will lead to a basic degree, or that is a preliminary training in an institute or as an apprentice.
In General
The competition organisers reserve the right to make changes in the competition arrangements in the task descriptions and timetables. Changes will be posted immediately www.taitaja2011.fi
More detailed instructions will be sent to finalists along with their competition invitations.
Category Description
This category is based on the curriculum-based training of a vocational qualification in Painting. Painters perform their tasks individually. The competition tasks are common tasks, which painters perform such as renovation, repair or exterior painting work. The tasks might include working on, for example, wall surfaces, doors, windows, laths, furniture, thermal pipes or radiators, exterior surfaces, or roofs, including priming work. Painters will have to be able to perform the required tasks according to the drawings and working instructions, and plan the most logical work order independently.
Skill Requirements
The painter nowadays should be able to do perform work tasks in their entirety. The painter should be able to plan his daily work so that the staging of work allows for example, the drying of materials without unnecessary stoppages in the work.
The painter should be able to complete the given tasks upon the basis of written work descriptions and blueprints. The painter should also be prepared to make changes in the plans for example, if a customer expresses wishes for changes in choices of colour or materials.
The painters job should not cause dangerous work situations, pollute the environment or endanger people.
In addition, the profession requires the ability to evaluate the quality of finished surfaces and accuracy of borders, and tidiness during the competition.
Evaluation Procedures
There is a task evaluation checklist list with assigned points for each competition task. The jury decides the final evaluation criteria, by accepting the criteria drawn up by the authors of the task, or by making its own evaluation criteria for the task.
Each task performance is evaluated when it is completed. The performance is evaluated on the competence, use of proper work methods, the final work result, work safety, and the organisation of the work place. The work has to be performed in the allowed time limit.
If any judge notices any flaws or mistakes in the evaluation, they should report these immediately to the jury. The jury, under the leadership of the head judge, should immediately make decisions that ensure that the procedures treat all competitors fairly.
The evaluation forms are given to the head judge and then sent to be calculated, within one hour after each competition task, or task group is completed. The results are published daily.
Competition Area size
The area of the wall to be treated is approximately 20 sq. meters
The floor area to be used is approximately 16 sq. meters per competitor.
