Category Description and the Basic Degree


The electrician works in installation and maintenance jobs in industry and electrical contracting firms. His work depending upon his work place, could include installing distribution networks, on premise lighting and equipment installation, and different types of weak current system installations, programming and repair work.


The competition tasks in this category are based on the curriculum-based training of a basic vocational degree in Electrical Engineering and its level 3 requirements (on a scale of 1-3).
This category is based on the curriculum-based training of a basic vocational degree, the curriculum being Electrical Engineering and the study programme Electrical and Energy Technology, and also upon the demands of working life for young employees. Graduates from this study programme work as electricians.

 

The competition tasks are related to the choice of materials and installation and inspection tasks in the following areas:


• electrical installations on premises
• electric motor and distribution centre installation


A special emphasis in electrical installations will be put on working safety and on the final results. Attention will also be paid to knowledge of materials and costs, co-operational skills and documentation.
