The Finals

The competition task is public and it will be published 2 months before the finals. The finals jury, along with the category organisers, will alter the published task approximately 30%.
The competitors will receive drawings and oral and written work instructions on how to perform the task. At first, the competitor will plan the staging of the work and solve possible work-related tasks, after which the required structures will be built from the provided materials.

The competitors will have the use of the hand tools they have brought with them, and in addition, if needed, can use a turntable circular saw and a cordless drill. The machines, devices, and equipment to be used in the competition will be strictly determined before the competition.

In addition, the competitor will have the use of a helper provided by the organisers for those tasks that cannot be carried out safely without help.

The time allowed for the tasks during the three competition days is 18 hours, in accordance with the timetable that will be given out separately.

The competition tasks will be performed in modules, so that evaluation can take place daily.

Finals Timetable

The Finals take place May 3-5, 2011. The timetable will be finalised during March 2011.
The organizers of the competition reserve the right to make changes to the task descriptions and timetables. Information on possible changes will be posted on the www.taitaja2011.fi  site immediately. Finalists will receive more specific instructions included with the competition invitation.

Preliminary Evaluation Procedures

The jury will decide on the rank order of the competitors by giving points to each competitor. The World Skills based CIS point calculation system will be used in evaluation. The maximum amount of points in each category is 100. The competition tasks will be performed in modules, so that evaluation can be made daily. The final evaluation criteria will be decided upon by the jury and the organisers.

In case a competitor compromises his own safety or the safety of others, he may be disqualified.

The evaluation will be made objectively and subjectively, and the subjective evaluation will comprise approximately 15% of the total evaluation.

The performance will be evaluated at the end of each module or part completed.
The performance is evaluated on the competence of the work, the use of proper work methods, the final work result, work safety, and the organisation of the work place. The work has to be performed in the allowed time limit.

If any judge notices any flaws or mistakes in the evaluation, they should report these immediately to the jury. The jury, under the leadership of the head judge, should immediately make decisions that ensure that the procedures treat all competitors fairly.
The evaluation forms are given to the head judge and sent to be calculated, within one hour after each competition module, or competition task is completed. The results are published by modules.
