The Aircraft Maintenance Technician possesses extensive technical skills. The work of the Aircraft Maintenance Technician includes inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, removing, installing, and repairing Aircraft Systems. On the basis of the completion of these tasks, a maintenance certification can be given which is a requirement for continued flight capacity. In Finland, the Aircraft Maintenance Technician is employed by airlines, maintenance firms, the military, the coast guard and the airline industry. The field is governed by the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency), the EU air traffic authority. The purpose of the agency is to standardise aviation operations and procedures in all European countries. After successfully completing the training and work experience required, the Aircraft Maintenance Technician can apply for the aircraft maintenance license that enables the technician to apply for maintenance work in different countries in Europe.

 

The Competition

 

The competition tasks consist of aircraft mechanic work in different areas, including aircraft structure repair, troubleshooting and inspection. The competitors also complete tasks related to the adjustment of the aircraft control surface, as well as jet engine inspections.
