Category Description
The competition tasks in Floristry are based on the basic degree in Horticulture, the vocational qualification studies in Floristry and Gardening Trade, and on the florist's requirements of making flower arrangements. Successful competitors have to be able to choose materials for arrangements according to theories of form and colour and according to the customer's wishes. They know how to handle and take care of arrangement materials, avoid wastage, and work economically and profitably. They are able to place flowers, plants and arrangements on display in an eye-catching and inviting way. Florists have to be able to make bouquets, arrangements, and other related floral shop products, and work independently and quickly. Floristry professionals also present, sell, price, care for and pack floral arrangements, and also keep the working premises tidy and sort the resulting waste products.
