Ladies' Dressmaking Category Description
Competitors design sketches for presenting and making clothes, and photograph the materials used in the competition design. They create a model/models that are workable in terms of measurements and form. In planning the design, the competitor takes into account the competition task theme, the use and care of the materials and supplies to be used, the machines, the equipment and the preparation technique to be used in making the design. The competitor prepares a cutting pattern with the necessary seam allowances and markings. The competitor draws up an economical cutting plan for a single cutting, in which the grain and the characteristics of the fabric and of the design are taken into account. The competitor makes the cost estimate and fills out the given form using the given costs.
Competitors create the products according to the competition task description. They select working methods which are technically sound and of high quality. The competitor interprets and follows the instructions given in the competition task. They are able to independently use machines, equipment, hand tools and appliances for making the task. The competitor makes the products in accordance with the set requirements and in the given time limits, and observes work safety rules.
The competitor must be able to make an assessment of their own work and the work quality, and adjust their working to the given time limits in the competition.
There are three modules in the competition task, one of which is a preliminary task.
The competition task can be altered by 30%.
More details of the Finals competition tasks to be specified later.
